What You Need

These roles are for screeners who are already certified. We are not able to train applicants from scratch.

  • Current DSHS certification in vision, hearing, and spinal screening

Issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services. We will ask for a copy of your certificate before your first screening day.

  • Texas Border Health Office certification for acanthosis nigricans screening

Or a willingness to obtain it before the season starts. Say so in your email and we will point you to the training.

  • Reliable transportation

Screening days are at school campuses across the metro, so you need to be able to get yourself to each site.

  • Comfort working with children ages 3 through 12th grade

Most of our work is elementary, but the role spans pre-K through high school.

Our screeners are typically retired or current school nurses, medical assistants, and optometry or audiology technicians. If that sounds like you and your certifications are current, we would like to hear from you.
